Spain offers everything from international coastal communities and vibrant cities to quiet villages, golf resorts and year-round beach living. The right location depends less on which area is considered "best" and much more on the life you want to live.
For families and international schools
If international schools are a priority, established international communities can make everyday life much easier.
The Costa del Sol — particularly Marbella, Estepona, Benahavís and the surrounding areas — is popular with international families and offers a wide selection of international schools.
Other areas with established international communities include Alicante and the Costa Blanca, Mallorca, Barcelona and Madrid.

Moving slightly inland can often provide more space, privacy and value for money while keeping the coast within easy reach.

For golf
Spain is one of Europe's major golf destinations, and for some buyers golf isn't simply a hobby — it determines where they want to live.
The Costa del Sol is particularly well known for its concentration of golf courses, while areas of the Costa Blanca, Murcia and Mallorca also offer strong golf communities.
If golf matters to you, consider whether you want to live directly within a golf development or simply within easy driving distance of several courses.
